What are the advantages of a MINT LAMA Freebreath snorkelling mask? When diving, breathing underwater with a snorkel is often perceived as a nuisance because breathing through the mouth is not natural and the mouthpiece is perceived as too large, uncomfortable and unhygienic. Thanks to the MINT LAMA Freebreath, a snorkel with mouthpiece is not necessary. Simply put on the mask and breathe in and out comfortably through your nose or mouth. What is the difference between the round glass and flat glass snorkelling masks? Viewing the underwater world at a 180° angle is simply unique and both snorkelling masks offer this. The round glass mask has no edges in the field of vision. This enables an even better underwater view than with the flat glass mask. However, the image is partially distorted with the round glass. The curvature of the disc creates a kind of magnifying glass effect. This effect is comparable to that of a sports camera, such as the GoPro. If the camera is held very close to an object, the object enlarges and the background becomes smaller. This distortion can take some getting used to for some swimmers. With flat glass, there is little or no distortion, comparable to conventional masks. However, visibility is slightly affected by two lateral edges. If you are still wondering whether flat or round glass: experience shows that people who have been snorkelling with a conventional mask for decades tend to prefer the flat glass mask. The distortion can sometimes be a nuisance for older people. The younger generation, who are used to the distortion of sports cameras, do not find this disturbing. The round glass mask is still the clear favourite. Can I also dive with the MINT LAMA Freebreath snorkelling mask? No. Apnoea diving is not recommended with these diving goggles. The air volume in the mask plays a greater role than with classic masks. After just a few metres of depth, the pressure in the face is perceived as uncomfortable. Pressure equalisation is very important when diving, but this is not possible with this mask as the nose is not freely accessible. Our MINT LAMA Freebreath - BALANCE and 2BREATH models do, however. Why can a lens tarnish despite anti-fog protection? As a rule, the MINT LAMA Freebreath snorkelling mask does not fog up because it has anti-fog protection thanks to a double airflow system, just like a ventilation unit. The mask should be put on so that the mouth section (silicone) lies close to the bridge of the nose. The air should not penetrate from the lower mouthpiece into the upper visor. Selecting the correct mask size plays a major role here. It may help to wash the inside of the lens with washing-up liquid. How do I choose the right size? To get the most out of your MINT LAMA Freebreath snorkelling mask, it is important to choose the right size. If the snorkelling mask is too small, wearing comfort will be restricted. If it is too big, water can get in. The snorkelling mask is available in two sizes for adults. These sizes cover approx. 95% of all male and female face shapes. However, every face is different and the information should only be used as a guide. Size S/M: mainly for women and teenagers Size L/XL: mainly for men A good guide to choosing a size is the distance between the eyes and chin: [Size 1.png] The MINT LAMA Freebreath mask is also available for CHILDREN in size XS. It is very difficult to say exactly what age the mask is suitable for, as children can vary greatly in size. In principle, children from the age of 5 can wear the mask. A good guide to choosing the size is the distance between the eyes and chin: [Size XS.jpg] Can I wear the MINT LAMA Freebreath snorkelling mask with a full beard? A short beard (e.g. 3-5 days beard) is not a problem, but with a full beard the mask cannot adhere to the face and there is a possibility that water will penetrate. We advise against buying the mask if you have a full beard. How do I clean the MINT LAMA Freebreath snorkelling mask? Remove the snorkel and, as with conventional snorkelling masks, rinse well with tap water after use. Store in a shady place.
